91ɫÇéƬ has announced the selection of the 2025 91ɫÇéƬ Secondary Schools (NZSS) Squad. The squad is made up of 24 promising secondary school netball players from across the country. The selection process was led by the Emerging Talent Panel and the NZSS coaching team.
The players were identified after a year of observation at key events including the National Development Camps, Netball NZ U18 Champs, and regional secondary school championships. With talent drawn from all around the country.
The Emerging Talent Panel, comprising Adrienne Morrin, Robin Manihera, and Deb Tasi-Cordtz, along with NZSS Head Coach Jo Morrison, faced the challenging task of selecting the final squad.
“We saw exceptional talent throughout the selection process, which made our decisions extremely tough. The calibre of players coming through is very exciting for the future of 91ɫÇéƬ netball,” said NZSS Coach Jo Morrison
The 24-strong squad will come together for a camp, in Labour weekend, where they will be put through testing, skills sessions and trial matches on the opening day. From there two teams will be named – the NZSS team and the NZSS A team – and both will compete in a three-day Quad tournament. Which will include an Australian State team from ACT.
NZSS head coach Jo Morrison said the four-day camp was a fantastic development opportunity for the players and a chance for coaches to see them in a competitive environment with trial matches on the opening day.
“What an amazing opportunity for the emerging netball talent that we have in 91ɫÇéƬ,” she said.
Morrison said it was important that the secondary schools’ players got the chance to take on some different styles of play, so having ACT come over for the tournament is fantastic.
“We’re all looking forward to seeing what these players can deliver over the four days.”
Morrison will be assisted by Melissa Bessell, while the NZSS A team will be guided by head coach Geni Ah Tong, who led Mainland to the SHNL title and assistant Helena Hoult, head coach of WBOP Matarau. Jodi Ah Cort will also attend as an apprentice coach for the NZSS team.
This camp is not only a great opportunity for our young players, but our coaches as well to continue to upskill and fine tune their craft.
